As an independent artist in Toronto {in the world!}, I wear many hats! All the hats, in fact.
Absolute tea, it is not always easy, and often a massive struggle pushing boulders up hills. There are plenty of organizations that need help fundraising towards a cause, and I personally support many where I can.
I’ve been working hard trying to keep nanopod studio afloat since 2005. Any and all donations go towards RENT! This is not meant towards travel (grants contribute to that), boots, supplies (workshops pay for that), leisure. Often people sign up for workshops then do not show up, and leave me with an empty seat and unfulfilled final payment towards the class. I do not know why this happens. I send out reminders, and I reach out to the no-shows. As a small business, this greatly impacts my ability towards moving forward. Yeah, I take on the occasional gig here and there to make ends meet, but even this often falls short.
I believe in supporting local businesses. This is one way you can do that. Maybe you can’t take a class, but love art/craft and the concept of renewable materials?
Your donation makes a huge difference in how Toronto’s arts and culture thrives towards positive change, for everyone. 🙂
